United Energy Trading celebrates 20 years in business

Provides market for sustainable energy future

LAKEWOOD, CO (September 27, 2022)—United Energy Trading (UET) celebrated its 20th anniversary in business this month. What started in 2002 with three employees and a small book of natural gas clients to trade for, has grown to 120 employees doing business in 45 states and business partnerships that span the globe. Subsidiary companies now offer green energy directly to residential customers, as well as carbon credits that are Green-e® certified – the gold standard in green energy certifications.

“UET has been successful trading in traditional energy markets for years, and we are proud to now offer green energy solutions to our customers as everyone moves toward a sustainable future,” says United Energy Trading President Tom Smith. “Achieving a net zero footprint for all our offices and activities in 2021 was a big win for us––and we plan to build on that as we look forward to new projects and investments. We are grateful that the employees at UET have always welcomed change and opportunities to grow, because we have had many such opportunities over the years.”

The work of UET’s subsidiaries has boosted the company’s profile and paved the way for new partnerships with the most far-reaching and influential non-governmental organizations in the world. In addition, UET and subsidiary United Green Energy (UGE) were proud to partner with the Colorado Avalanche to provide the carbon offset credits for all energy use during the final round of the playoff games held at Ball Arena in Denver in 2022.

“Our mission at United Energy Trading and United Green Energy is to provide market answers for long-term energy sustainability that people can voluntarily use at their own pace,” says UET Executive Chairman Tom Williams. “Our energy experts are today’s indispensable leaders, guiding America to a greener future by providing clients with reliable energy marketing and logistics.”

UET’s investments in sustainable infrastructure were bolstered by the purchase of Greenwave, which provides renewable energy and carbon offsets to 18,000 customers serviced by PG&E in California; and through subsidiary United Green Energy’s strategic partnership with Green Rock Energy Partners (GREP). GREP recently began producing renewable natural gas (RNG) from their Indiana anaerobic digester, and UGE will be conducting the majority of the commercial renewable natural gas offtake activities from that plant, including gas injection, storage and sales for this and future projects.
